Sam Conway
Sam Conway is the owner and CEO of Sam Conway LTD and American Shooters Edge. Sam is a professional Firearms Instructor and Competitive Shooter with over 15 years experience.
Sam started his shooting and teaching career as a founding member of the United States Army Marksmanship Unit's (USAMU) Action Pistol Team. Sam specialized in IPSC/USPSA, Bianchi, and The Master International Shooting Championships. While teaching for the AMU Sam created the USAMU Instructor Group's Small Arms Munitions Course for the EOD. This program allowed EOD techs the ability to fire at unexploded munitions at distance of 500 meter or greater with various Sniper Weapon Systems. Sam also conducted over 20 Special Response Team programs for pistol, shotgun, M-16 and M24 Sniper Weapon Systems Courses.
After leaving the USAMU Sam joined the Georgia Public Safety Training Center as a Firearms Instructor. Sam's major responsibilities included training thousands of state, county, and city law enforcement officers in advanced shooting programs. Sam has taught over one hundred programs in the following subject area while at the GPSTC: Pistol Level I, Pistol Level II, Pistol Level III, Shotgun Skills, Shotgun Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Semi-Automatic Pistol Instructor, Tactical Rifle, Sniper Level I, and Level II. Sam also created a 40 hour Tactical Rifle Instructor Course for GPSTC.
After leaving GPSTC, Sam joined the Department of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's (FLETC) Firearms Division (FAD) as a Lead Instructor. While at the FLETC Sam conducted firearms training to over 80 federal law enforcement agencies. Sam was instrumental in creating the Pistol Skills Enhancement Training Program, a 40-hour program to improve the skill level of all federal law enforcement agents and officers. In addition, Sam improved a large agency's Special Agents Basic Training Program by revising their program to include dynamic speed shooting and created a 24 hour M-4 rifle program for the agency.
As a shooter, Sam has many shooting accomplishments. In 2001 Sam created the first of its kind book, ‘'The Shooters Approach to Practice”. With this new innovative training idea Sam created a best selling book on how to practice. Sam classifications in the following shooting disciplines are:
- USPSA - Grand Master
- IDPA - Master
- NRA Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup) - High Master
- NRA PPC - High Master
Sam Also holds two Nationals Records in NRA PPC, and is a precious Governs Twenty Champion. Sam is a six time Georgia State USPSA/IPSC Champion, a two time NRA PPC Regional Champion and a USPSA Area Champion. Sam also holds a Distinguished Badge in NRA PPC Revolver and Semi-Auto Pistol. He is also a member of the 1490 club in PPC and has won numerous State Championships in Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. Sam has been in the top 20 at the NRA Bianchi Cup and is the recipient of the Mickey Fowler Award. Sam is the Sportsman National Champion at the Masters International Championships and has been in the top ten. |
